Trip to see Mimi!

Brandon afforded me the great luxury to have the weekend to myself in Minneapolis.  Now before you think that this weekend was filled with pedicures, pampering, and eating chocolates in bed for 3 days (I wish), I spend 80% of the time studying for my Minnesota MPJE.  While I was slaving away on my books, Brandon took Lainey on a road trip to Kansas to go see Grandma Kathy (Mimi) and Great Grandma Walker.  Brandon also got to catch up with old friends, be an "extra" in an upcoming independent film (The Jayhawkers), and of course buy Lainey many KU outfits (without my permission).

Big Week of Firsts!

So last week was a big week for Miss Lainey.  I could hardly keep up with the milestones! 

After a long 9 1/2 months, she is FINALLY sleeping through the night.  FINALLY!  I don't remember what it is like to get more than 5 hours of sleep at a time.  I can't believe I have been surviving on that sleep schedule for so long.  I don't know what the trick was, but I am glad that it happened.  Mainly for my sanity and well-being.  :o) 

We now officially have to watch the potty mouth as someone is talking!  Lainey said her first word other than ma-ma, da-da, or bah bah.  Do to the incessant need of holding her sippy cup over the edge of her highchair and dropping it a gazillion times a day, I always say "Uh Oh!" every time it happens.  Someone picked up on that rather quickly and now will drop anything and everything to say "Uh Oh!"  It is too cute. 

Finally, someone decided that she was tired of scooting backwards and is crawling forward.  I thought that Lbug would never be a crawler and instead would go straight into walking, however she had other plans.  The first day was rather slow and just a couple of scoots forward.  Fast forward two days later and she spanned the entire living room in the matter of seconds.  I think that my life just got turned upside down. 

Tomorrow is her 10 month birthday!  Where is time going? 

Twins!

This past week, Jared and Julie came from Phoenix to spend some time in Minneapolis.  It was so great to see them as it had been since Lainey's 3 week birthday that we had seen them both.  Thankfully, Mimi also came up for the week and helped watch Lainey while the four of us got to explore Minneapolis.

 

Jared found awesome seats for the Twins game vs. Baltimore.  Front row, first base side, just to the right of the Twins dugout.  Could not have asked for a better night either!

Fingerpainting Friday!

Today was a first for Miss Lainey.  We decided to give her creative artist hat a try today and fingerpaint.

Procrastination

Since I have been horible at blogging for the past two months, I thought I would share some of our adventures, milestones, and happenings around the Walker household for the past couple of months.  This summer is going by so fast!  I can't believe how each week flies by.  Since the middle of June, we have had friends and family coming up to Minnesota for visits every weekend.  So in between washing the sheets, cleaning house, and going to the grocery store we are spending as much time outside in the sun!

Someone is scooting backwards.  Not in a full crawl yet, but getting there!

Nellie has not had a very fun summer.  Four trips to the vet, a broken toe, and dermatitis = being in the cone of shame for weeks.  We have now weaned her off the cone and she if back to chasing ground squirrels and causing trouble.

A special visit by Aunt Bethany and Uncle Clay resulted in lots of spoiling (hence her new outfit) and lots of kisses!  Lainey loves Auntie B and Uncle C!  6-17-12

Lots of swimming time for this girlie!  She loves the sun, sand, beach, and water.  Thanks to swimming lessons, she is already comfortable with going under water for around 3 seconds.

Happy 4th of July!  Spent the day with the sun, pool, and friends in Medina.  Lovin both of my firecrackers!
