Twins!

This past week, Jared and Julie came from Phoenix to spend some time in Minneapolis.  It was so great to see them as it had been since Lainey's 3 week birthday that we had seen them both.  Thankfully, Mimi also came up for the week and helped watch Lainey while the four of us got to explore Minneapolis.

 

Jared found awesome seats for the Twins game vs. Baltimore.  Front row, first base side, just to the right of the Twins dugout.  Could not have asked for a better night either!

Fingerpainting Friday!

Today was a first for Miss Lainey.  We decided to give her creative artist hat a try today and fingerpaint.

Procrastination

Since I have been horible at blogging for the past two months, I thought I would share some of our adventures, milestones, and happenings around the Walker household for the past couple of months.  This summer is going by so fast!  I can't believe how each week flies by.  Since the middle of June, we have had friends and family coming up to Minnesota for visits every weekend.  So in between washing the sheets, cleaning house, and going to the grocery store we are spending as much time outside in the sun!

Someone is scooting backwards.  Not in a full crawl yet, but getting there!

Nellie has not had a very fun summer.  Four trips to the vet, a broken toe, and dermatitis = being in the cone of shame for weeks.  We have now weaned her off the cone and she if back to chasing ground squirrels and causing trouble.

A special visit by Aunt Bethany and Uncle Clay resulted in lots of spoiling (hence her new outfit) and lots of kisses!  Lainey loves Auntie B and Uncle C!  6-17-12

A much needed date night to Chino Latino!  One of my new favs! 

Lots of swimming time for this girlie!  She loves the sun, sand, beach, and water.  Thanks to swimming lessons, she is already comfortable with going under water for around 3 seconds.

Happy 4th of July!  Spent the day with the sun, pool, and friends in Medina.  Lovin both of my firecrackers!

Eating is such hard work too!  She could barely stay awake for her breakfast one day.  Too much partying in the middle of the night I guess.  :o)

Swimming Lessons and Progression

We started swim lessons at Foss Swim School in June to get Lainey excited to be in the water. She loves tubby time, but we wanted her to feel comfortable and be acclimated to swimming. The first two lessons didn't go very well...lots of tears, crying, screaming. I am pretty sure she was so overwhelmed and overstimulated. After each lesson, she took a 2-3 hour nap which is very unusual for her! So I decided to take her on my own to the swimming pool and to let her get used to the water on her own time. That was the magic ticket as she is now loving swimming lessons.

 So after two weeks of not having any fun, we decided to hit up Elm Creek Beach and soak up some sun.  It went much better this time!

 I finally decided that this girl needed her own pool to play in.  If she could be out in her pool at 6AM...she would.  We have been out there as early as 9AM and she played for an hour.
